Legion Week is underway to celebrate the Royal Canadian Legion and everything that they do. Branch 85 in Kapuskasing President Hays Patterson says their organization is still quite strong and active in the community.

“It’s one of the last service organizations left in town,” Patterson said. ” We have about 200 members at present time and we are always looking for new ones.”

Patterson said the Legion helps out a variety of organizations in town as well as veterans and their family members. He adds that weeks such as this are variety beneficial to their organization.

“We welcome the community in and show the people what we do,”  he said.

Activities over the weekend included a steak super and a garage sale. The Legion has a number of events this week including a seniors night and a dance on Saturday.
