Hey Day is truly a one-of-a-kind Kapuskasing event that has been around it seems forever. That’s annual giant garage sale and flea market that is a major fundraiser for the Sensenbrenner Hospital Auxiliary. The event starts tomorrow from 9 am to 8 pm and Friday from 9 am to noon at the Kapuskasing Curling Club. Aline Carrier from the Hey Day says what makes her proud is when they finish the event and they get the grand total of the money raised.
“When we get the exact amount of the sale after the two days that’s where my heart starts beating,” she said. “It so exciting and that’s our big thank you to know what we raised.”
Carrier says it’s amazing what people have stored up for items when they start collecting for the following year’s sale.
“Every year we say, well everyone’s house is going to be empty and they will have nothing to donate,” she said. “The next year we have more things donated than the year prior and it’s amazing the generosity of the people from the region.”
