Kapuskasing Food Bank Needing Help Restocking Shelves

The Kapuskasing Food Bank is looking for your help in re-stocking its shelves for the fall. Chairman Rick Bartlett says they need protein, non-perishable items, as well as cash donations to serve its many people that regularly use their service.

“We are open each week and we average between 35 to 50 people,” Bartlett said. “They are families, singles and couples. The need is so critical because these clients rely and survive on the food bank.”

The Food Bank needs food that has protein and good value such as non-perishable items like pasta, soups, and stews.

The Kapuskasing Rotary Club who have been overseeing the Food Bank the past three years along with help from Moose FM will be holding a Food Drive next Wednesday, Sept. 18 and Thursday, Sept. 19 from 6 am to 6 pm on the circle right below the studios. People are encouraged to drop off their donations of food as well cash. Bartlett says they look to raise 7,000 pounds of food and $7,000.

“Although the Food Drive compliments what we already have, it doesn’t fulfill all of our requirements so I go out and shop,” he said. “With your generosity I go out and get items like Macaroni and Cheese when it’s on sale and I buy several cases of it.”
