It’s still forest fire season

This will come as no real surprise at the end of this cool, wet week.

MNRF forest fire information officer Shane McCool says the forest fire hazard across the northeast is low to moderate.

“We are anticipating some unsettled weather to continue,” he remarks, “and that will help reduce the fire hazard as well and keep it to a low-to-moderate for the short term, anyways.”

“As of now, there are no active fires.  We do want to remind the public that we are still in the fire season ‘til October 31st.  So when they are enjoying their campfires, just to make sure they don’t leave them unattended.”

…And, of course, before leaving those campfires, using lots of water to make sure that they’re out.
