The rain and high humidity we’ve had during the week has lowered the forest fire hazard right across our region to the low-to-moderate range.
MNRF forest fire information officer Isabelle Chenard says the unsettled weather will likely keep it there for the weekend.
There are 23 forest fires burning across the province. That includes six in the Northeast, and they’re all categorized as being “under control” or “being observed”.
If you spot a fire in the region,call 3-10-FIRE.
Meanwhile, the 163 people from Keewaywin who have been staying in Timmins the last two weeks are headed home.
They were flown into the city on July 4th, as a huge forest fire near their remote Northwestern Ontario native reserve moved dangerously close.
City Hall says most of the people will return to Keewaywin tomorrow.
