News Going hungry for two food banks SHARE ON: Bob McIntyre, staff Thursday, Jun. 13th, 2019 Members of the CARE Club at KDHS present a cheque for $500 to the Kapuskasing Food Bank. (Submitted by Yvonne Odai) Forty students at Kapuskasing District High School now know what it’s like to go hungry. The members of the CARE Club action against poverty group spent a night at school without eating. “Just looking at it from the point of view of equity issues,” she says, “really helping out the less fortunate, we are creating the word that we need to help our community and people who are less fortunate.” Odai says the exercise was also a fundraiser. “We raised bout $1,700 and we gave $500 to the Kapuskasing Food Bank. The rest is going to go to the food bank which is going to be set up by September.” That second food bank will be at KDHS.
