Forestry minister makes visit to Hearst mill

A Hearst plywood mill was host to the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry today.

John Yakabuski toured Columbia Forest Products today to see how the province’s investment of $3.2 million over five years to help retain 350 jobs between the two mills between Hearst and Rutherglen.

Yakabuski says since they were elected they have made one of their top priorities to make Ontario open for business and open for jobs as well. He says their investment is helping the mills to maximize production capacity as well as try and develop new products.

Columbia Forest Products Director for Canadian Operations Gilles Levesque says the continued support for our local community and workers has enabled this mill to become a leading manufacturing facility.
