She was aiming top 15, and she hit her mark, now Jany Scherer is also headed farther than she imagined.
The Kapuskasing resident and Miss Northern Corridor can now also add a trip to the national competition to her list of to do’s. Scherer has been crowned Miss Friendship of the Miss Northern Ontario Pageant in Sudbury.
Scherer knew the competition would be tougher so her goal of the top 15 was something not necessarily set in stone.
However, she says despite not knowing what to expect, she did know there would be scouts for Miss World watching, she just didn’t think they were watching her.
“We knew from the start that there would be people looking at us and like really seeing if we belong on a national stage. I honestly didn’t think I would get scouted so when they said my name I was like, ‘Oh my God’!”
Despite this shock, not for a second during the weekend did Scherer expect to be going forward past this point, so she saw this as her final pageant and an opportunity to soak in and enjoy every last minute.
After finding out that there was more to come, she says she is ready to push herself to try and achieve as much as possible through what now could be her next and last pageant.
When looking back at the weekend as a whole, she says her title of Miss Friendship is what she is most proud of.
“I love that title so much because we had to vote, so the girls voted and they told us the criteria was someone who had a positive impact on your weekend, that was friendly to everyone. So just knowing that most of the girls voted for me and I had this positive impact on everyone, its so cool.”
She says she is super excited about one very specific part to the upcoming competition, the bikini walk, a staple of pageant history, and a shining moment for a young lady with pageant dreams, she will get to fulfill that this summer.
Scherer has now been invited to the national stage to participate in Miss World Canada this coming July in Toronto from the 21st through the 27th.
