News Police Arrest Impaired Driver SHARE ON: Nick Birnie, contributor, Thursday, Mar. 21st, 2019 Police have made the arrest of an impaired driver. The OPP James Bay Detachments were called on Monday to a local restaurant in Smooth Rock Falls around 8:00pm due to an ongoing argument between an intoxicated female and her server. Police say the woman was asked to leave and eventually agreed to do so. However, she then proceeded to try and drive away, which police attempted to intervene before she was able to take off. A short distance later she was stopped by Police and the 50-year-old local woman was arrested on two charges including one count of operating a vehicle while impaired and one count of operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level above 80 milligrams. The accused was served with a 90-day license suspension and their vehicle impounded for several days. They are scheduled to appear in Cochrane court on May 16th.
