Police have arrested a Kapuskasing man for assaulting an officer.

The OPP James Bay Detachments and members of the Offender Transport Unit were involved in an altercation with a prisoner on Monday.

Police say during which the prisoner attempted to take an officer’s weapon from him causing it to deploy, one officer suffered minor injuries and was treated and later released from hospital.

Officers then arrested the 27-year-old local man on 11 charges including five counts of assaulting an officer with a weapon and four counts of uttering threats.

The accused will remain in custody until appearing at Cochrane court April 2nd.
