Extreme Snowfall Expected Later Today

A winter storm is on the way.

Environment Canada says some hazardous winter conditions are headed for Kapuskasing, Hearst and Smooth Rock Falls.

The weather agency says a significant snowfall is expected to begin this afternoon.

Environment Canada says a system traveling from Colorado is expected to intensify throughout this morning before tracking northeastwards towards the local area by this evening.

The weather agency is expecting snow to start this afternoon and continue through the night along with blowing snow.

In total, Environment Canada expects snowfall in the amount of 30 to 40 cm by Friday morning.
