A water break this morning has led to a boil water advisory for the town of Hearst.

A water main break has forced Director of Public Works Luc Leonard to issue a boil water advisory effective immediately.

The advisory is being issued by the town alongside the Porcupine Health Unit and Ministry of the Environment.

A boil advisory means everyone should refrain from using water to drink, or using it to brush their teeth or to wash foods such as vegetables that will be eaten without being cooked.

Water must be brought to a rolling boil for one minute and can also be used for bathing or washing clothes.

The advisory will remain in effect until the water quality results show that all is good.
