In order to better keep an eye on safety, the OPP are using helicopters during Snowmobile Safety Week.
The OPP and Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs and the Ministry of Transportation have come together for the week and according to the OPP, have some additions.
A helicopter has been used throughout the week and will until Sunday as an effective tool for applying speed limits to snowmobilers as well as for helping search and rescue operations and detecting dangerous driving.
The OPP are trying to cut down on snowmobile fatalities which saw the death of 14 snowmobilers over the course of the past snowmobile season.
Snowmobile Safety Week lasts until this Sunday.
