Environment Canada has now officially ended the current extreme cold warning for Kapuskasing, Hearst and Smooth Rock Falls.

UPDATE: 10:04am

An extreme cold warning is in effect for the areas of Kapuskasing, Hearst and Smooth Rock Falls.

Environment Canada says wind chill is expected to reach near minus 40 early this morning.

The weather agency says the wind chill will level off throughout the day, however, the cold air mass will remain through the weekend and possibly into next week.

Environment Canada says more extreme cold winds are expected again tomorrow night and to continue into the weekend.

The weather agency is, therefore, suggesting you dress warmly as well as in layers and with a wind resistant outer layer.

They also suggest that if it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
