Longtime Golf Club Manager Preparing For Next Step

The Kapuskasing Golf Club will be looking for its first new manager in 20 years.

David Guay will be leaving his position this coming summer after first joining the club back in 1999.

Guay first made the decision back in August, when his wife and him came together on a decision to leave in a years’ time allowing his wife to take a teaching job near Ottawa.

He says two decades ago his wife let him follow his dream; so there is no way all these years later he will get in the way of hers.

“The decision is very simple, 20 years ago I came here with an opportunity for myself and my wife followed me here, we had one child at the time and had another while living here. But this time around its my wife that had an  opportunity to teach in the city of Orleans.”

Guay says reflecting back on the last 20 years, he hopes he has given people something to enjoy.

“Obviously it was alot of fun for me the last 20 years its been challenging to say the least, the club has been through big change I think since I got here and reflecting back I think I have managed to make the Golf Club a place that maybe people rediscovered a bit.”

Kapuskasing Golf Club President André Robichaud and the club is now left to try and find an ideal candidate to take over the managerial helm.

The club is currently accepting candidates for the soon to be vacant position.

Guay says he believes they will find someone who will bring their passionate style to the club, continuing to carry it forward into the future.
