A group of Kapuskasing healthcare professionals is being recognized for their efforts.
The North East Local Health Integration Network has announced that the Kapuskasing and Area Interprofessional Primary Care Committee has been named as Healthy Change Champions.
The group, which involves a large number of local partners, came together to form the committee and through their collective actions they have developed strategies to improve access to primary care for residents of Kapuskasing.
Executive Director of Centre de Sante Marc-Andre Gravel says partnerships play a central role in patient-centered initiatives, and the increase of access to interdisciplinary care has positive outcomes for residents.
Sensenbrenner CEO France Dallaire says increasing access to primary care has been reflected in the decrease in hospital visits from last year to this.
Riverbend Family Health Organization Lead Physician Dr. Julie Ann Boucher says the goal is to improve access and recruitment and retention of physicians, meaning further programs tailored to fill care gaps within the community.
The NE LHIN recognizes the work of this committee and their efforts for improving the livelihood of their communities.
