Local Band Receives Boost For Their Community Work

A local act has earned some funding for their community work.

De Tout Coeur or From the Heart, a Kapuskasing band, has received a $4,000 grant from the Retired Teachers of Ontario after having their application accepted.

The band received the funding for all of their volunteer work within their communities, such as providing music for the elderly and those with disabilities.

The band includes Diane, Robert and Melanie Renaud, alongside John Trumble, Maurice Leblanc, Denis Audet, Diane Mainville, Suzanne Lacroix, Alice Ouellet and Edith Bisson.

Singer Diane Renaud says through the grant they hope to continue providing their service to improve the quality of life for seniors in the community.

Renaud says they hope through the grant to achieve a few things such as:

  • an opportunity for many seniors living in residences to spend a pleasant afternoon or evening with their family members who often use these occasions to visit them.
  • The families of these residents notice that their loved ones are much happier when attending quality musical performances.
  • provide free of charge to all seniors living in residences across our community and to non-profit organizations whose targeted audiences are seniors and people living with disabilities.

Renaud also says that the group has now performed 65 bilingual shows within the northeast region over the past four years.
