NEOFACS Teaming Up With MooseFM To Pump Out The Gifts

With the holidays nearing an annual campaign is making its return with a few additions.

North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services Christmas Angel Campaign has kicked off within the Kapuskasing and surrounding area, and this year they are joining up with MooseFM as part of their annual Vista Million Dollar Fundraiser.

NEOFACS Volunteer Coordinator Mireille Dubosq says each year NEOFACS holds a toy drive campaign to help children, youth and families within their communities.

Dubosq says this year they have decided to partner with MooseFM to help further promote the campaign.

She says names and wish lists of children, youth and families that need assistance throughout the holiday season are collected and their staff and volunteers work with generous community sponsors to fulfill the Christmas wishes.

Dubosq says the campaign primarily provides gifts to children under the age of 18, but in some special cases they can sponsor an entire family.

She says there are most definitely some rules to the gift giving, such as the maximum spending limit is $125 per child and no violent themed toys or video games will be accepted.

Dubosq says clothing is not encouraged due to sizing and personal style conflicts, and all gifts should be new and unwrapped so they can do a safety check.

Dubosq says you are welcome to sponsor a child, or even a whole family depending on your feelings of generosity.

“So people can decide to pick out a profile and sponsor a specific child, some of the sponsors do pick out families entirely, some organizations choose to have a toy drive and collect toys and then donate them to us, some choose to purchase food vouchers or donate money.”

She says Christmas is not an easy time for people, especially those struggling financially, so they want to offer some help.

“Well as we all know Christmas is a tough time for everyone financially, emotionally and whatnot, so if we can help those families financially by offering a couple gifts it does help and it goes a long way for them to have a brighter Christmas.”

Dubosq says the Kapuskasing community has been very generous and supportive of their cause over the past few years and she hopes to see that same generosity come forwards once again,  considering their goal is to support and sponsor 129 children which means raising $16,125 total this year.

She also says on December 5th during the “Moose FM Community Cares Radiothon” Val Albert Motors will also be holding a ‘Fill the Fiat” from 9:00am to 5:00pm collecting toys for the Christmas Angel Campaign.

The “Moose FM Community Cares Radiothon” is set to take place on Wednesday, December 5th of this year.
