While you are out trick-or-treating tonight the Kapuskasing Fire Department will be patrolling the streets for your safety.
The local fire department announced that tonight they will be conducting a Pumpkin Patrol.
Fire Chief Pat Kennedy says some safety tips they want to pass along include:
-Choose face paint and makeup whenever possible instead of masks, which can obstruct a child’s vision.
-Carry glow sticks or flashlights to help be seen by drivers.
-Add reflective tape or stickers to costumes.
-Cross streets on corners and when available use cross walks and traffic signals.
-Make sure the driver sees you, make eye contact.
-Watch for cars that are backing up – they may not see you.
-Trick or Treat with an adult, children under 12 should be supervised and not be out alone.
-Drivers use extra caution during peak Trick or Treating hours.
Kennedy says this includes the volunteer firefighters riding in trucks from street to street to make sure all trick-or-treaters are safe and sound.
