NewsKapuskasing Fire Department Working Halloween Pumpkin Patrol Tonight SHARE ON: Nick Birnie, contributor, Wednesday, Oct. 31st, 2018 While you are out trick-or-treating tonight the Kapuskasing Fire Department will be patrolling the streets for your safety.The local fire department announced that tonight they will be conducting a Pumpkin Patrol. Fire Chief Pat Kennedy says some safety tips they want to pass along include:-Choose face paint and makeup whenever possible instead of masks, which can obstruct a child’s vision.-Carry glow sticks or flashlights to help be seen by drivers.-Add reflective tape or stickers to costumes.-Cross streets on corners and when available use cross walks and traffic signals.-Make sure the driver sees you, make eye contact.-Watch for cars that are backing up – they may not see you.-Trick or Treat with an adult, children under 12 should be supervised and not be out alone.-Drivers use extra caution during peak Trick or Treating hours. Kennedy says this includes the volunteer firefighters riding in trucks from street to street to make sure all trick-or-treaters are safe and sound.
