A New Bilingual Community Paper Is Coming To Kapuskasing

A bilingual weekly community paper will begin printing this December.

A press release was issued today stating that the Board of Directors of Radio Communautaire Kap Nord Inc. have announced the new, non-profit, community newspaper.

La Presse Communautaire/The Community Press will begin publishing in Kapuskasing in a few months’ time and will be distributed free of charge in communities stretching from Opasatika to Smooth Rock Falls along Highway 11

The Community Press will share office space in the current CKGN building located at 77 Brunelle Road North in Kapuskasing.

The press release also states that despite sharing an office, the two will run as completely separate businesses.

The release also states the paper will be bilingual.

Kevin Anderson, a former Editor at The Northern Times has been named the publication’s Managing Editor – Digital and Print.

Anderson says the board at Kap Nord and a CKGN Manager need to be thanked for this coming to fruition.

“That the Board of Directors of Radio Communautaire Kap Nord Inc. has taken on this project demonstrates its commitment to providing a comprehensive newsprint service to all of the residents of Kapuskasing and the surrounding area, and in addition to thanking the Board, Id also like to thank CKGN Station Manager Claude Chabot for his belief in this new venture and for championing the project.

The first edition is set to be published this December and then will continue to be published on a weekly basis.
