Rotary Club Walking To End Polio

Today you can walk with your community to help end Polio.

That’s according to Kapuskasing Rotary Club Member Dave Millar who says their Polio Walk will be to help raise awareness about the crippling childhood disease.

Millar says that their Rotary District 7010 decided that last year all 42 clubs would come together to help the cause.

He says this year they are walking to raise further awareness on how they need to eradicate the disease.

Millar says in 1988 there were 350,000 annual cases across 125 countries worldwide, meanwhile in 2017 there were only 22 wild polio virus cases reported in two countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Polio Walk will begin at the Rotary Hall at 6:00pm and will follow a path around the Kapuskasing community before finishing back at the Hall in roughly an hour around 7:00pm.
