OCOA Remind You To Hunt Sober

With recreational marijuana now legal, conservation officers are reminding you to hunt sober.

The Ontario Conservation Officers Association is taking the opportunity following legalization to remind hunters to practice safe, responsible and sober hunting.

President Sean Cronsberry says that the handling of a firearm is a very serious matter and that safe handling can’t be stressed enough.

Cronsberry says drinking or smoking can lead to serious repercussions.

“Impairment of any kind, either by drugs or alcohol, can have serious and sometimes fatal consequences.”

In addition to their hunting sober warning, the OCOA is reminding hunters to remember ACTS and PROVE which involves following the proper guidelines before ever preparing to use your firearm.

He says practicing safe hunting means enjoyment for all.

“By practicing safe and sober hunting we hope everyone has an enjoyable and successful hunting season.”

If you see any offences relating to natural resources or public safety you are encouraged to call the Ontario Ministry of natural Resources and Forestry violation reporting line 1-877-847-7667.
