Heavy rain is expected at times today throughout the area.

Environment Canada says Kapuskasing, Hearst and Smooth Rock Falls will be dealing with a strong low pressure system hitting the area by this evening.

The weather agency says heavy rainfall in the amount of 50 millimetres is expected by the time rain comes to an end tomorrow.

Environment Canada also says areas north of Kapuskasing should experience temperatures closer to the freezing mark which could result in ice pellets, snow or freezing rain at times.
