Bourgouin Fighting For Safe School For Kashechewan Students

Kashechewan students are in desperate need of a safe, usable school.

MPP for Mushkegowuk-James Bay Guy Bourgouin says the Ford government needs to ensure Kashechewan students have a school to learn at immediately.

Bourgouin penned a letter to the Minister of Indigenous Affairs Greg Rickford and Minister of Education Lisa Thompson, asking for help in the form of a permanent solution and fast.

He describes in the letter how temporary portables were set up 10 years ago, and now are falling apart due to structural deterioration. He says these students have no safe environment to learn and that is insufficient to say the least.

Bourgouin first brought the issue to Queen’s Park earlier in September when students were unable to begin their school year due to the closure of their school.

He says he wants a response from both Rickford and Thompson regarding how they plan to ensure that these students will have a safe, usable school to begin their school, year like every other Ontario child has done.
