Canada Post Employees Unhappy Amid National Contract Disputes

With a possible strike looming, Canada Post employees took to the streets today.

During their breaks just past 10:00am Friday, Kapuskasing Canada Post employees took to the streets for a short march around the Circle to display their displeasure with current contract talks.

These talks, which have been ongoing for nearly a full year, now see Canada Post officials meeting with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers this weekend to try and solve the problem nationally.

CUPW Local President Christine Lozier says Canada Post workers were voicing their displeasure with current contract talks.

Lozier says they don’t want to see anymore rollback, in this contract they want to see health and safety issues addressed as well as precarious work.

The union is preparing workers for action, which could include more rotating walkouts such as we saw this afternoon in the circle.

As of now,CUPW National President Mike Palecek, and Canada Post interim president Jessica Mcdonald, along with members of their negotiating teams are trying to work together on a deal.
