Franco-Ontarian Day was celebrated by youth throughout Kapuskasing and Hearst.

The two town’s celebrated Franco-Ontarian Day Tuesday, a celebration that first began back in 2010.

Due to weather concerns, an annual flag raising ceremony at Hearst Town Hall was cancelled during the day, but the celebrations still continued for schools.

A spokesperson for Ecole Publique Passeport Jeunesse in Hearst says students enjoyed activities throughout the day celebrating their heritage.

The spokesperson also says many francophone schools in the community had special presentations from staff and students regarding the day and the celebration of their heritage.
