The OPP is now doubling up on their push for residents in Kapuskasing to lock it or lose it.

Provincial Constable Stephanie Belec says that through the night on Saturday, September 22nd and Sunday, September 23rd officers of the OPP did a random check on motor vehicles in town.

Belec says roughly 300 vehicles were checked and 84 were found to be unlocked at the time.

She says there are some tips to protect your property from theft:

  • Roll up the windows and lock the doors of your vehicle
  • Remove all valuables or keep them out of sight
  • Don’t leave your keys in your vehicle
  • Don’t leave personal identification in your vehicle

Belec says if you have any information regarding thefts please call your local police or Crime Stoppers.
