One pump is getting shut off for good.
The MacEwen Gas Station located at 25 Brunetville Road in Kapuskasing has seen its last fuel run through its pumps.
Vice President of Retail Fuels Darrell Mooney says when MacEwan purchased the station a few years back, they were aware that there would need to be refurbishments or reconstruction to the site.
Mooney says the reason for the move; the cost to rebuild is not feasible, and the lease is now up.
“Basic reason is the lease is up, we acquired it a couple years ago and knew the lease was going to come to an end, and looking at the cost to rebuild was prohibitive to generate enough income to pay for those upgrades.”
He says they like the market in Kapuskasing, it was just bad timing.
“No, we like Kapuskasing, we think it is a great market, just unfortunately not the right location at this particular time.”
Mooney also says at this time he feels it was just not the right location, but they are always looking at opportunities throughout the province.
