Val Rita is going to be smoking out the area for a good purpose next week.
The municipality has announced that in order to properly detect if any sections of their sewer system are dealing with any sewage draining into the line, they will perform a smoke test.
A smoke test will involve blowing smoke through the sewer system in order to find any pockets where the smoke may exit, these pockets would display a potential for storm water to enter the system.
The township hopes the test will detect any sewer sections that are showing signs of inflow from rainfall, which could mean a faulty drain or connection.
The municipality is reminding residents that the smoke being used for the test is nontoxic, harmless, as well as odorless and will not create a fire hazard.
The smoke test is set to be conducted in Val Rita between Monday, September 10th and Thursday, September 13th.
