Despite very few bear sightings in Kapuskasing, the MNRF is asking the community to be cautious.
A Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Spokesperson says as fall rolls around the lake, forests, hiking trails or even campsites should still be treated as a bear’s natural habitat.
The spokesperson says prepare yourself for any encounters by planning any trips with safety in mind.
They say teaching your kids how to avoid attracting a bear, as well as how to properly store your food is a big step in securing your safety.
