REACH Returns For Fourth Year

Youth within the area once again can get a little more after school fun in this year.

Abundant Life Christian Fellowship’s Rooted Youth and Junior Youth Ministry is once again putting on the REACH program for a fourth straight school year.

Youth Director Sarah Jane Coombs says the purpose of REACH is to positively impact the lives of local youth.

“The purpose of REACH, our actual mission, is to reach out to Junior High students within our community and provide them with a fun and a safe place where they can have activities in a Christian environment, and our goal is to impact their lives.”

Coombs says this year will see the same great after-school program for grades six through eight, offering many different activities ranging from kickboxing to cooking.

She also says new this year will be some additional workshops to accommodate more students, and thanks to more funding they will offer full meals rather than the snacks they have in the past.

Coombs also says with the new additions comes the fact that some activities will also now take place in the brand new Life Centre.

She says the program is to teach these youth about life and give them practical skills to better themselves going forward.

“We want to impact their lives with difficult truths, we want they kids to know they were created for a reason that their loved by god and we want them to have hope in their lives, as well as the workshops offer practical life skills.”

Coombs also says that anyone wishing to perform a skill or offer a class or activity is welcome to help out by reaching out to her and following the necessary steps.

REACH will take place at 13 Ash Street in Kapuskasing weekly on Thursdays beginning September 13th.
