Hearst Arts Council Celebrates 40 Years

The Hearst Arts Council is celebrating 40 years of entertainment and theatre in Hearst.

Officially began in July of 1978, the Hearst Arts Council has come a long way as a non-profit organization to where it stands today.

Executive Director Valerie Picard says the development of art in all forms within the region has and will always be the main goal of the council.

Picard says a big part of forwarding that goal and vision was the acquisition of a building for the council which was done back in 2010; one they still share with Passeport Jeunesse Public School.

She says in order to encourage artists from the community and surrounding area they offer their full services to any local music or theatre group, saying that whoever wishes to put on a play, or a show, they are open to helping them achieve that.
