Kapuskasing Mayor Alan Spacek is getting some well wishes from his colleagues.
The former Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities President is being thanked for his many years of leadership and dedication at the helm of FONOM.
Spacek announced this spring that he would not be seeking re-election in his own municipality in October, therefore bringing an end to his time as President with FONOM.
FONOM recently announced a new President in Danny Whalen this August, who says Spacek’s leadership is to be thanked for the high regard others have for the federation.
Whalen says the commitment and passion Al has for the north will be missed alongside his energy.
Spacek says he is not going far though, and he is glad to have developed so many friendships throughout Ontario while serving as President.
The federation will now have Spacek serve as Past President until December 1st of this year.
