Smooth Rock Lifts Boil Advisory For Three Streets

Some streets in Smooth Rock Falls can go back to drinking tap water.

Elaine Avenue, Art Street and Breton Crescent can return to normal water use for the most part says the Ontario Clean Water Agency’s Bruce Larstone.

Residents have been alerted that the advisory which was issued back on Thursday, August 9th has now been lifted.

Larstone says safe water sample results indicate that the water quality is now safe.

However, he suggests some tips still to be safe:

• Run cold water faucets for one minute before using the water.
• Run drinking water fountains for one minute before using the water.
• Flush garden hoses by running cold water through them for five minutes.
• Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.
• Drain and refill hot water heaters set below 45°C (normal setting is 60°C)

Currently, Larstone says the corner of 5th Street and 3rd Avenue North to the Sewage Plant and Dam is still under a boil advisory.
