Smooth Rock Falls Announces Another Boil Water Advisory

Another Boil Water Advisory has been given by the Town of Smooth Rock Falls.

Announced by Ontario Clean Water Agency Senior Operator Bruce Larstone, from the corner of 5th Street and 3rd Avenue North to the Sewage Plant and Dam is where the advisory will cover.

Larstone says the town is also alerting residents that they will be temporarily without water at points until the new line has been tied in.

He says residents are being asked by the OCWA to boil their tap water.

Smooth Rock also declared a boil water advisory just a week and a half ago on Elaine Street, Art Street, Breton Crescent and Albert Street.

Larstone says the Porcupine Health Unit has a Boil Water Advisory tips page on their website that can inform residents on how to use water during an advisory.

The PHU’s tip page says boiling water for at least a minute before use is necessary, but you can use tap water for washing clothes, taking showers for non-infants, shaving and flushing toilets.

They insist that you boil water to handle many tasks around the home such as brushing teeth, handwashing, preparing food, making coffee and giving water to pets.

For further details on the advisory you can go to the tips page.

As with the previous incident still ongoing, Larston says the advisory will remain in effect until test results show the water quality is good.
