Resident Brings Home Two Bronze Medals From Special Olympics Summer Games

A Kapuskasing resident has made her hometown proud.

Jenna Knowles has returned to Kapuskasing with two Bronze medals from her most recent trip to the National Summer Games for Special Olympics Canada in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Knowles, who competed in four separate swimming competitions over the five-day event from July 31st to August 4th, says the entire experience of being at the games was exciting, fun and it was a blast to make new friends.

She says she can’t help but be extremely happy with the way things turned out and the success in which she had.

Knowles finished with two Bronze medals to represent her hometown, winning one in the 200 metre Individual Medley and the 400 metre Freestyle, while also finishing fourth in the 200 metre Backstroke.

The 2018 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games saw a total of 1,025 athletes and over 300 coaches and staff join in Nova Scotia over the course of the first week of August.
