KRWT Starts Up Today

Anglers from all over Northern Ontario are descending upon Kapuskasing.

Today marks the beginning of the Kap River Walleye Tournament, one of the ongoing fishing tournaments available annually in the province.

Organizer Gilles Aubertin said last year they had their largest field of competitors yet at 113 boats, something he wanted to shrink down slightly for this year’s event to improve the level of competition.

Aubertin says they will be paying out cash prizes once again to the top boaters as in years past.

He also says for those unfamiliar with the event, it covers a 40 kilometre section of the Kapuskasing River.

The tournament begins with a rule meeting tonight at the Sports Palace Arena and the tournament runs Saturday 8:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday 8:00am to 3:00pm.

Full tournament details.
