Smooth Rock Falls Under Boil Water Advisory

A Boil Water Advisory has been issued by the town of Smooth Rock Falls.

Effective as of Thursday, Ontario Clean Water Agency Senior Operator Bruce Larstone says the town has issued an advisory for the second straight year.

The Town of Smooth Rock Falls says residents on Elaine Street, Art Street, Breton Crescent and Albert Street are all under the advisory.

The Porcupine Health Unit says this is a result of an infrastructure water main construction upgrade being done by the town.

The PHU in turn, has released a Boil Water Advisory tips page on their website in order to inform residents on how to use water while during an advisory.

The PHU’s tip page says boiling water for at least a minute before use is necessary, but you can use tap water for washing clothes, taking showers for non-infants, shaving and flushing toilets.

They do insist however that you boil water to handle many tasks around the home such as brushing teeth, handwashing, preparing food, making coffee and giving water to pets.

For further details on the advisory you can go to the tips page.

Larston says the advisory will remain in effect until test results show the water quality is good.
