Hearst’s First Strongman Competition Raising Funds For CT Scan

Women and Men showed their feats of strength in Hearst this weekend.

For the first time in town a professional strongman tournament was held at the Companion Hotel, an event organized by the community alongside Kapuskasing born strongman Maxime Boudreault.

In total, five professional men, and two semi-professional women athletes participated in Hearst’s first ever official competition, alongside several male and female amateur athletes between the Friday and Saturday.

Organizer of the event Alain Rioux believes that the event, which showed as a solid success in terms of spectators, can become an annual thing.

Rioux also says that spectators did not have to pay a fee to watch, however everyone was instead invited to donate towards Notre-Dame Hospital in Hearst and their CT scan fundraising campaign.

At this time, the totals raised through the event for the CT scan are unknown.
