Province Receiving Help With Forest Fires

Ontario will be getting help fighting their forest fires from fellow provinces.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says crews from Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia are on their way to help.

An MNRF spokesperson says as of this morning, there are 69 active forest fires in the Northeastern region, 27 are out of control and 42 under control.

The spokesperson says 15 different crews are arriving from BC and 10 four-person crews from Alberta on priority flights to help with the current situation.

They also say Alberta and Saskatchewan will be bringing water-bombers in as well.

The MNRF is also evacuating parts of the Temagami region, and those leaving are travelling north on Highway 11.

Currently the MNRF says Highway 11 is open, but if fire conditions worsen that could change.
