OPP Stats For June Show Consistency

The James Bay area had a pretty average month of June when it came to crime.

That’s according to the OPP’s James Bay Detachments and Media Officer Stephanie Belec, who says stats stayed very similar to previous months, with slight rises and falls.

Belec says after seeing a drop in property crimes earlier this spring from roughly 70 a month to 35, June saw a raise back to 75 across the James Bay region.

She says on a positive note, drug offences continued their drop from an average of 12 per month to 9 in June.

Belec also says violent crimes which had seen a rise in the month of May, dropped from 48 to 41.

Overall, officers within the James Bay region responded to 992 calls for service in the month of June.
