Algae Sampling Ongoing At Remi Lake

Sampling is underway at Remi Lake after complaints of algae.

The Timmins District Office of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change notified the Porcupine Health Unit that testing would be done at Remi Lake in Moonbeam this past week.

PHU Public Health Inspector Suzanne Lajoie says sampling took place on Wednesday, June 27th following a complaint from a local resident.

Lajoie says that as they wait for the results, residents of the local area are being asked to take extra caution and precautions for Blue-Green Algae if it is in fact present.

Further details on the health risks of Blue-Green Algae and how to avoid it can be found here.
