All Ontario Chiefs’ Conference continues at Nipissing First Nation

It’s estimated that the number of people attending the All Ontario Chiefs’ Conference at the Nipissing First Nation is about 300.

That includes about 100 Chiefs.

First Nation leaders have been debating numerous issues and up for discussion today are First Nation Safe Drinking Water legislation.

Delegates will also talk about income security reform and strategic initiatives.

The successful candidate will serve as Regional Chief for the next three years.

Shortly after the conference began on Tuesday, Nipissing First Nation was given the IPAC award which it won earlier for its work with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry regarding the Lake Nipissing fishery.

Representatives from Deloitte were also present.

The three day event wraps up on Thursday.

This is the 44th year for the conference and the first time it’s been hosted by NFN.
