Neo natal ventilator closer to reality

Cheques from two service groups will help babies across the region with a piece of life-saving equipment.

The Knights of Columbus and Daughters of Isabelle have given the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation $26,500 toward a neo-natal ventilator.

The unit costs $44,000.

The foundation’s acting executive director, Patricia Gaudreau says the foundation is very grateful to both groups for their fundraising efforts.

Once in place, the ventilator means northern families don’t have to travel as far to give their infants the life-saving care they may need one day.

Just the opposite, the ventilator lets babies stay closer to home during a time of need.
