With just over a month remaining before the application deadline for municipal elections, Kapuskasing currently has a short list of candidates.
Alan Spacek announced in late May he would not be seeking a fourth straight term as Mayor and since only one candidate has officially stepped forward for the position in Vic Fournel.
There has also been only one candidate for a councillor position, that being Marcel Valliere.
Overall, six councilors and a Mayor must be elected, as well as five school board trustees.
Currently, three of the five school board zones have candidates as Daniel Grzela, Nancy Turgeon and Michel Seguin are up for trustee positions at this time.
