Kapuskasing 2018 Water and Sewer Budget may see a slight increase come July 1st.
In recent years, the Town of Kapuskasing was collecting to cover the costs of the sewer services based on assessments of each property and water consumption.
Now, Tax Collector Daniel Grezla says the municipality plans to change that formula over the next five years.
Grezla says the bill for water use will increase by 2 per cent or 4 cents per square meter this July.
He says in order to phase out their former formula, over the next five years a percentage of sewer service costs will now be absorbed by their water bill beginning with 12.5 per cent this year.
It is expected that major water users will be consulted on how to best accommodate the new regulations.
The water and sewer budgets for 2018 will be presented for approval by the council next Monday, June 18th beginning at 5:30pm.
