OPP Reminds Deadline To Remove Studded Tires Is Today

Today is the final day before the deadline to remove your studded winter tires.

The James Bay Detachments of the OPP have sent out a reminder to all Northern Ontario residents regarding the deadline.

Provincial Constable and Media Officer Stephanie Belec says anyone who is caught using studded winter tires on their vehicle after May 31st will be fined.

Belec says a fine for studded tires could be faced that stands between $110 and $1,000.

The Ministry of Transportation extended the use of studded tires in Northern Ontario from April 30th to May 31st back in 2014.
