Railway Advocates Rallying For Future Of Rail

Passenger service should be top priority this June according to northeastern railway advocates.

The Northeastern Ontario Rail Network wants the next provincial government to restore passenger service to the region according to NEORN Spokesperson Lucille Frith.

Frith says the organization is hosting a series of meetings at town halls titled ‘Rally for Rail’ over the next two weeks which includes a stop in Hearst at the Heritage Sawmill.

She says these meetings will discuss how communities who have recognized the need for passenger rail can gain the service back.

Frith says these northern communities such as Hearst were built on the backs of trains, or they would not be here in the first place.

The Rally for Rail in Hearst takes place Wednesday, May 30th beginning at 7:00pm.
