As the long weekend is beginning, so is the OPP’s 2018 Canada Road Safety Week Initiative.

Provincial Constable and Media Officer Stephanie Belec says as eager Kapuskasing and surrounding area community members take to the roads, trails and waterways this weekend, the police want to stress safety.

Belec says they are looking for the ‘Big Four’, which includes impaired driving, aggressive driving, seatbelt use and distracted driving.

She says all motorists, boaters and off-road drivers should take charge of their own safety to ensure the safety of their passengers and others over the weekend.

Belec also says boaters should always be wearing a lifejacket, as well as not drinking and operating their boat.
