UPDATE: The Fire Department was able to contain and bring an end to the fire in the mid-afternoon.

Residents are being asked to report all fires in the area to their local emergency services.

A bush line fire has spread towards Moonbeam.

Around 11:30am Sunday the Moonbeam Fire Department was alerted of a bush line fire making its way towards the municipality.

Moonbeam Fire Chief Dennis Plourde says they arrived on scene quickly to find the blaze had reached 21 Beauvais Road.

Plourde says his crew have been able to slow the fire down thanks to help from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry who have people on both the ground and in the air.

He says with help from the MNRF, the fire has been slowed down to an extent, but Plourde and the fire department are asking all residents to remain away from Beauvais Road until further notice.

Further updates will be provided as they come in.
